Montessori School of Durham
Company Information
For over four decades, the Montessori School of Durham has used the method and principles of Maria Montessori to lay the foundations for our children to become true citizens of the world. We are a non-profit school founded in 1976 by a group of teachers and parents dedicated to the Montessori philosophy. MSD has been an affiliate of the American Montessori Society since 1977, and in 1996 became the first school in North Carolina to receive AMS accreditation. Summer 2012 saw us move to a new campus on six acres, opening an exciting new chapter in our history, MSD enrolls children from 18 months through the sixth grade. Our children's Montessori experience is enhanced by school families' time, talent, diversity, and energy. Diversity at MSD is not just a number but a dynamic experience of rich interactions among our students, faculty, staff, and families in the classroom, on the playground, and at organized school events. MSD is located in south-west Durham, very convenient to the Research Triangle Park and four major universities: Duke University, North Carolina Central University, The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and North Carolina State University. Triangle residents enjoy many cultural, historical, educational, and natural amenities, as well as a reasonable cost of living. The beach and the mountains are both within a few hours' drive.
