Accredited by The American Montessori Society, Cognia, The Southern Association of Independent Schools, and the National Council of Private School Accreditation, Hilltop sits on 7 acres in the beautiful town of Mt Laurel, a walking planned community in Birmingham, Alabama. With a campus certified as a National Wildlife Habitat and housed in a LEED-certified building, HMS has a strong environmental education focus in a highly academic setting. Two separate buildings house two toddler programs, five primary classrooms, three lower elementary rooms, an upper elementary, and a middle school. The school also has a gymnasium, a full teaching kitchen modeled after Alice Waters' Edible School Yard, a science lab, an art studio, and large music practice and performance areas. Established in 1996, the school is proud to be the only school in Alabama that is accredited by AMS, SAIS, Cognia, and NCPSA and the only private preschool and elementary school in a LEED building.
