Garrett Heights Elementary Middle School

Located in the Hamilton - Lauraville Neighborhood, Garrett Heights Elementary Middle School has been in the community for over 100 years. Invested and embedded in our community we are committed to moving our school forward. With a dedication to our mission to “provide a positive environment that is child-centered and developmentally appropriate by using an invitational approach to learning that will enable students to achieve their maximum potential.” In order to maintain our commitment to this mission, we are now transitioning to a Montessori School. This year we have begun our transition to Montessori with our two pilot classrooms, one Pre-school classroom (Grades PreK, K, 1), and one Lower Elementary (2, 3, 4). In the 2018-2019 school year, it is our hope to expand our program further by adding 4 Pre-school classrooms to our Children’s House, maintain our Lower Elementary, and adding an Upper Elementary classroom. Which will be different than this year, our preschool classrooms will now serve only Pre-K and Kindergarten, while our Lower Elementary will serve First, Second, and Third Grade. It is our goal to be Baltimore City’s first Non-charter Public Montessori School.
