Job Type: Primary Lead Teacher

  • Lead Teacher in a multi-age Montessori classroom of 3-6-year-old children
  • Full-Time, approximately 7.5+- hours daily
  • Mid-August - mid-June (185+- school days)
  • Each staff member will receive a ten-month teaching contract
  • Possibility for summer hours during our science-themed summer camps

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare the classroom environment for optimal learning
  • Create and follow an individualized student curriculum, honoring each child's learning level
  • Develop classroom schedules and routines
  • Host bi-weekly classroom team meetings with the Pre-Primary Assistants
  • Attend all monthly full-school staff meetings with the Head of the School
  • Attend/Host all staff development and teacher functions
  • Establish and maintain a positive teacher/parent relationship through conferences, newsletters, daily interaction at drop-off/pick-up, etc.

Qualifications:

  • Montessori Teaching Credential (3-6 year credential)
  • Have a great understanding of the Montessori philosophy
  • Must have the ability to multi-task
  • Must have good record-keeping habits, as each child's curriculum varies
  • Must have a minimum of 2 years of classroom experience
  • An Associate or Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field
  • Excellent communication and writing skills
  • Classroom management skills are a must
  • Candidates must be able to carry 50 pounds
  • Candidates must be able to crawl, sit, and kneel during each workday

We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Montessori Primary Teacher for our mixed age Montessori classroom.

The ideal candidate will create a nurturing and stimulating learning environment for young students, fostering their academic growth and personal development. This role involves implementing engaging lesson plans, assessing student progress, and collaborating with parents and staff to ensure each child's success.

Duties

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive curriculum that meets the educational standards and individual needs of students.
  • Manage classroom behavior effectively to create a positive learning atmosphere.
  • Provide individualized support to students, addressing their unique learning styles and challenges.
  • Assess student performance through various methods, including tests, projects, and observations.
  • Communicate regularly with parents regarding student progress and classroom activities.
  • Organize classroom resources, including library services, to enhance learning experiences.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current with educational best practices.
  • Collaborate with colleagues on curriculum development and school initiatives.

Skills

  • Strong skills in Montessori curriculum development to create engaging lesson plans.
  • Proficient in classroom management techniques to maintain an orderly environment.
  • Experience working with children in a Montessori setting is essential.
  • Excellent skills for preparing instructional materials and assessments.
  • Background in childcare or early childhood education is necessary.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with students, parents, and staff members.
  • Knowledge of education administration processes is beneficial.
  • Familiarity with literacy education strategies to support reading and writing development.

Job Types: Full-time, Contract 192 working days, with summer opportunities

Pay: From $24.00 per hour
