Description

The Lead Upper Elementary Teacher holds full responsibility for the classroom experience—designing and guiding a rich, integrated curriculum while cultivating a safe, joyful, and inspiring environment. You will serve as a mentor, facilitator, and leader, empowering students to take ownership of their learning and their community.

You will work collaboratively with our specialty teachers in Art, Music, Spanish, and Physical Education, weaving these disciplines into a cohesive and meaningful educational experience.

Qualifications

Montessori trained (Upper Elementary preferred) AMI or AMS
Creative, expressive, and full of ideas
Dynamic, adaptable, and energetic
A strong communicator with leadership presence
Deeply committed to child-led, holistic education

Comfortable living and working in a jungle environment
Resourceful, flexible, and able to embrace the beauty (and unpredictability!) of nature

Responsibilities

Montessori Teaching & Curriculum
Deliver a full Upper Elementary Montessori program in alignment with Montessori principles
Present engaging, imaginative, and fun Montessori lessons and projects
Guide each child at their own pace, according to their individual needs
Support each child in reaching their full potential, academically and creatively
Foster a classroom where imaginations are alive and bursting with fire

Prepared Environment
Take full responsibility for the classroom environment
Ensure materials are beautiful, organised, complete, and well cared for
Order and maintain Montessori materials as needed
Create a space that is calm, inspiring, and conducive to deep work

Creative & Performing Arts Integration
Bring learning to life through theater, music, singing, and movement
Support and participate in school productions and performances
Integrate creativity across the curriculum in meaningful ways
Student Care & Classroom Leadership
Lead daily morning circles, nurturing connection and emotional well being
Build a strong, respectful, and joyful classroom culture
Support independence, confidence, and collaboration
1 presentation each trimester that integrates theater and education (ie. council of all beings, wax museum, skits, etc…)

Parent Communication & Community
Take full responsibility for clear, warm, and consistent parent communication
Lead parent-teacher conferences and provide thoughtful feedback
Write a weekly class newsletter in a clear and engaging tone
Build strong, trusting relationships with families

Planning & Organization
Plan curriculum, projects, and learning experiences
Organize and lead field trips and special outings
Work closely with the wider teaching team to support the rhythm of the school
