Description
Hill Country Montessori School is seeking a dynamic, experienced and certified Montessori lead teacher to serve in our Toddler classroom for the current (2025-2026) School Year.
Hill Country Montessori School is the only Montessori school in the Greater San Antonio area that is nationally accredited by the American Montessori Society (AMS) and Cognia. Since 1981, our school has forged a path of excellence in Montessori programs and has been the leading choice for Montessori, advanced preschool, elementary, and middle school education.
HCMS provides a customized education based on a child’s needs and development, as well as promoting joy-filled learning, character expansion, exploration, independence, and integrated development. Our community brings together teachers who are Montessori-certified and professionals of the highest academic and personal caliber to ensure each child is nurtured to their full potential.
POSITION STATEMENT: The Montessori Teacher acts in accordance with Montessori philosophy, HCMS mission statement, HCMS Employee Policy Manual, Parent Policy Handbook and other written policies/procedures and verbal instructions.
Qualifications
REQUIREMENTS:
Montessori Certification through an accredited Montessori Training Program (MACTE/AMS/AMI) in accordance with classroom assignment;
Bachelor's degree;
Meet school/state education requirements including, but not limited to, applicable teaching certification and workshops as required;
At least 2 years teaching experience preferably in a Montessori environment;
Complete 24 hours of continuing education (CEUs) during the academic school year with a focus on targeted areas of growth.

Responsibilities
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
General
Ensure the safety and welfare of all students and help maintain an environment that meets state, health, fire and child-care requirements;
Perform tasks necessary to maintain a clean, orderly and attractive Montessori environment;
Conduct him/herself professionally by respecting student and school confidentiality;
Help maintain a positive school environment through student, parent, and staff relationships;
Collaborate with colleagues and school leadership in the design and implementation of the school's overall program and mission.
PROFESSIONAL:
Develop a classroom schedule and lesson plans that provide opportunities for a variety of work options, large blocks of uninterrupted work time, a consistent, dependable routine; and establishes long and short term goals for group and individual students;
Participate in cooperative group work and peer teaching;
Demonstrate ability to observe students' learning and needs and respond appropriately.
COMMUNICATION:
Understand and communicate the school's mission, purpose, objectives and policies to parents and staff in a positive and supportive manner;
Develop and maintain positive parent/staff partnerships and demonstrate the ability to communicate effectively with parents.
