Position: PT/FT Montessori Certified Toddler Teacher (ages 16 mo-36mo)

Permanent (as full-time or part-time) OR Temporary for 9 months, 6 months, 1 year or 2 years

Pay rate: DOQ


$500 hiring bonus at end of 3-month probation period

Benefits: Paid Federal holidays and all school breaks totaling 4.25 weeks (about 22 days) of school-wide break days. 8 PTO days (with a 3-month probation period for PTO).

· Montessori Credential for Early Childhood or Toddler OR willingness to become certified (FMS offers train-to-work contracts)
· Current First Aid and CPR certification (or willingness to obtain as soon as possible upon hire)
· Read, understand, follow FMS Policies and Guidelines
· Pass background checks and adhere to regulations required by VDSS and VDOE
· Attend all necessary trainings and school functions, including occasional after-school events or weekend staff trainings
· Bachelor’s Degree
· Virginia Preservice Training for Childcare Staff (free 10-hour training)
· Virginia Mandated Reporter Training
· Experience working in a non-profit Montessori program
· COVID-19 Vaccinated (or willingness to obtain before start date)


 Job Description and Responsibilities

Fulton Montessori School (FMS) has expanded this past June 2022 to include a new Toddler program. FMS is in need of a Lead Teacher to help organize and initiate and lead our new enrolling families as they become part of our small neighborhood preschool. This position starts immediately as we prepare to move to our new location (anticipated move in January or February)

The Toddler Teacher works in a team setting with the Assistant Teacher and guides the children and maintains a beautiful, clean, and safe environment that is socially, emotionally, physically, and academically appropriate and engaging for children, as set forth by the AMS/AMI organizations, VDSS, DOE, etc.


Our ideal candidate will easily fit into our kind and hardworking team. We are looking for a teacher who:

-Has experience as a Montessori Lead or Assistant Teacher in the toddler environment
-Is punctual and has reliable transportation
-Has open communication skills, is open to feedback, and willing to ask questions
-Ability to make observations, record-keep and prepare and conduct 2 parent teacher conferences annually (or as needed)
-Communicate with families via messaging system - including sharing pictures and providing updates as needed (at least once a week)
Provide toileting and sleeping updates daily per State requirements
-Share workload with Assistant Teacher regarding all tasks, determining a fair balance
-Contribute to school monthly newsletter
-Other duties as determined necessary for the well-being of students, coworkers, families, etc.
-Is proactive with problem-solving tendencies and has a love for learning – open to training and learning new things
-Will show respect and kindness towards children, parents, co-workers and community members.
-Has a love for learning and for guiding children while managing a classroom
-Is organized and tidy and can follow-through on tasks and -is able to organize and prioritize as needed
-Is attentive and observant of students and their environment
-Is willing to defer to the director and other leadership regarding parent communication or policy items as needed
