Do you love children and want to make a difference? We are looking to add a motivated, reliable and caring teacher to join our staff as a Primary Lead Guide. As a Lead Guide, you will be responsible for:

  • creating a comfortable learning environment, teaching and guiding the children using a variety of Montessori materials
  • Establish guidelines for work and behavior, showing children how to function within the curriculum and community
  • Evaluate each child's academic, emotional, and social progress, interests, and personality to determine which materials a child is ready to be presented so that students are constantly challenged.
  • Always, maintain a kind, patient, and respectful attitude toward the children.

As a highly visible member of a busy and varied Montessori program, you possess excellent communication skills and the ability to multi-task with frequent disruptions.

Company Description

FCMA is a private Montessori school serving children from 18 months to 6 years old. Located on the northeast side of Indianapolis, we have been proudly serving the community since 2011. Our school is open from 7am to 5:30pm.

Qualifications

- Must be 18 years or older
- Previous experience in a classroom lead position in a childcare setting required
- Montessori experience is required. Additional onsite training provided.
- Flexibility between the hours of 7:00am-5:30pm
- Enthusiastic and creative mindset in a classroom setting
- Interest in working with kids in a patient, compassionate and understanding manner
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to prioritize and multitask responsibilities
- Team player mentality with a positive and receptive attitude

Responsibilities

- Maintaining a well-organized, clean, and stimulating classroom environment
- Observing and documenting each student to create individualized instruction
- Providing gentle guidance to help children develop strong independent skills
- Maintaining open and clear communication with parents and children
- Being a positive role model for children by demonstrating respectful and kind behavior
- Supervising children during outside time on the playground
- Performing light cleaning duties, both assigned and proactively

- Writing conferences
- Attending all school social events
- Written communication such as, but not limited to, newsletters
