The Children's Tree Montessori School is growing. CTMS in a non-profit school, located in Old Saybrook, CT. Qualifications
Qualifications for the Ideal Candidate:
Associate degree or higher,
Experience working in a Montessori classroom,
Energetic, Compassionate, Team Player,
Montessori Assistant training or Montessori Certification from a MACTE accredited training program,
Effective Communication Skills,
Leadership Skills,
Can exercise tact, discretion, and confidentiality,
Bilingual
Responsibilities
Participate in developing curriculum, activities, and exercises for the classroom and school.
Generate a weekly shopping list for needed supplies.
Create, design, and maintain all areas of the classroom, including weekly lesson plans
Supervise upkeep of all educational equipment and materials in the assigned area.
Observe and analyze the behavior of the children.
Maintain a daily record of the activities of the children.
Maintain and update a weekly record of the progress of each child.
Prepare periodic reports and Individual Development Plans; review with supervisor and parents.
Work with parents to promote understanding of their child's growth and development.
Effectively introduce and implement the principles of the Montessori Method.
Help prepare and attend various parent teacher meetings, parent nights, picnics, and children’s productions.
Encourage parent participation in school programs.
Conduct regular formal and/or informal parent/teacher conferences on each child's school adjustment, classroom behavior, and developmental progress.
Train, supervise, and effectively utilize classroom assistants, substitutes, and volunteers.
Supervise all activities to ensure safety at all times.
Contribute to Staff In-Service Training by planning, leading, or assisting in a workshop presentations or by developing resources.
Manage the successful transition of the children from their homes to the school setting.
Develop the vocabulary of the children, arrange thematic units and organize activities to achieve this.
Observe and resolve various problems faced by newly inducted children encountered while adapting to a completely new environment.
Skills
Effective Communication Skills.
Experience using Google Drive and Microsoft Word or Excel.
Strong leadership qualities and skills.
Ability to develop rapport with children, parents, and co-workers.
