Position: Mandarin Teacher (‘25-’26 School Year)

Reports to: Program Directors 

Hours: Full-Time (10 month)

 

Description: Harborlight seeks a Montessori Mandarin Teacher for the Children's House (PK-Kindergarten) dual language program and some elementary (Grs 1-8) Mandarin classes. The ideal candidate will be committed to fostering a bilingual environment where students develop fluency and cultural appreciation through immersive, Montessori experiences. In this role, the teacher collaborates with the Montessori English Teacher to support Mandarin instruction in all curricular areas and integrates the language naturally into daily routines and activities.

Qualifications

Working at Harborlight:
-be knowledgeable of the philosophy of Montessori education
-demonstrate strong cultural awareness and responsiveness, as well as -experience supporting diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives
-Priority will be given to candidates with qualifications including:
Montessori Credential (3-6) AMI, AMS, MACTE preferred
Bachelor's Degree or advanced degree preferred
MA EEC Teacher qualification preferred
Fluency in Mandarin, with native or near-native proficiency
Experience teaching Mandarin to young children

Responsibilities

Teaching at Harborlight
-implement a developmentally appropriate Children’s House program for children Ages 3-6 in collaboration with a lead or co- teacher
-have enthusiasm, flexibility, and a desire to collaborate with colleagues both on your team and across different classrooms
-exhibit excellent communication with families to provide timely and appropriate feedback regarding student progress
-possess a growth mindset when it comes to engaging with relevant and mission-driven professional learning

Responsibilities at Harborlight:
-performing various duties, including classroom coverage, lunch duty etc.
-maintain aesthetically pleasing classroom space and common areas
-attending faculty and team meetings where appropriate
-participating in admissions programming as needed
-and other duties as assigned
