We offer a flexibleschedule with morning, afternoon and evening classes. We’re looking for someone who fulfills our core values - this job is a good fit for you if you love inspiring others, working with children and have a passion for a healthy lifestyle.

Little Kitchen Academy is the first-of-its-kind Montessori-inspired cooking academy for children ages three through eighteen. We are focused on providing a safe, inspiring, and empowering space for children to identify, develop and refine their senses. With joy, mindfulness and learning as a base, we are creating a foundation for a healthy lifestyle through responsible eating choices from scratch to consumption. Through Montessori-inspired practices, LKA values the development of the whole child - physical, social, emotional and cognitive.

At Little Kitchen Academy, our core values are at the heart of everything we do and are behind every decision we make, in and out of the LKA environment. We strive to be a totally inclusive workplace, and we’re dedicated to building a team who is diverse in background, identity, perspective, culture and experience. As a proud equal opportunity employer, we value the qualities and characteristics that make you who you are. If you think you can see yourself Changing Lives from Scratch, we encourage you to continue and apply!

All Instructors need to have current Food Safe Certification, criminal record check, and First Aid/CPR/AED Training prior to the first shift.

Qualifications

What will be expected of you?

-You have to be kind, caring and patient - every child learns at their own pace, in their own way. Your willingness to allow children to work freely and independently while providing a safe environment and guidance when necessary are the key to success for both you and your students.
-The ability to do quality work and represent Little Kitchen Academy’s Core Values (Joy. Mindfulness. Empowerment. Health. Learning. Delight.) to create more educated, able and healthy children.
-Going above and beyond with every detail, meeting and exceeding expectations to support our mission to change lives from scratch by upholding the principles of Care of Self, Care of Others and Care of Environment.
-Weekday, evening and/or weekend availability

Responsibilities

What will you be doing?

-Guiding children through their classes as a Lead, Support or Environment Instructor
-Welcoming, preparing and teaching 10 children per class by going through that day’s recipe, leading the work and using time management skills to adjust class pace as a team
-Demonstrating practical life skills and proper tool usage while fostering conversations around ingredients and equipment, offering choices, suggestions and observations as they work
-Helping students to discover and identify where things are located and encouraging practice of skills, allowing for as much time as needed, and supporting children as they strengthen their skills
-Maintaining a clean and safe environment

What can we offer you?

-Support from your leaders and your team both at work and in life
-Recognition for your hard work and opportunities for development from your directors, who provide open, honest communication in a positive and nurturing environment
-Paid training, immediately starting at $20 per hour, and Food Safety and First Aid/CPR/AED certification

Skills

Your success will be measured by your ability to fulfill the tasks we mentioned earlier while maintaining the standards mentioned above. Ultimately, a successful environment is one with a full schedule of both new and returning children, where recipes are completed on time, and in a way that fosters independence in our students. You will be an integral part of us sharing the concept of building independence and confidence in our environment with the community.
