Mandala Montessori is looking for a lead guide to join our team!  The lead Montessori guide position requires a love of children, patience and respect for the  developmental needs of the children and adherence to the Montessori Method. It is important that the lead Montessorian positively model the dual concepts of grace and courtesy within the classroom setting.  Guides will create and maintain an environment in line with the goals and values of Mandala Montessori. Guides take responsibility for developing and implementing a program of curriculum that promotes the spiritual, social, emotional, physical, and academic development of each child. 



Must hold a certificate from an accredited AMI or  AMS Montessori program.  
Must have at least two (2) years of previous  experience in Montessori & Early Childhood  Education. 
Must pass a fingerprint background check  
Must complete Pediatric CPR/ First Aid & AHT  upon hire 
Open to receive training in DHS Licensing  requirements  
Team member attitude + effective  communication skills 
Professional, friendly, and punctual 


General Responsibilities:

Become familiar with and adhere to the staff handbook, our vision, mission standards
Create, plan and implement curriculum
Help develop a mutual respect and partnership between all program participants and the world beyond our door
Foster curiosity and a passion for learning
Nurture a spirit of self-esteem, dignity, kindness and compassion in each child and staff members
Recognize and support the individual needs of each child while promoting a strong sense of belonging to a community
Willing to attend family events, including potluck, conferences, graduation ceremony
Use appropriate guidance and discipline techniques with the children trying as well as provide them with a positive model of behavior
Maintain appropriate certificates and training requirements such as CPR and First Aid.
Prepare for conferences, attend family education nights as well as social gatherings that the school offers

Record Keeping:

Establish the 2.5 to three hour work period in the morning and give lessons as needed
Establish and maintain classroom true to the Montessori philosophy, paying particular attention to the needs of students
Implement and update records
Plan, prepare and maintain all units of study – including Montessori materials, thematic units, library books, etc.
Carefully observe and keep daily records on each student’s individual progression through the classroom
Maintain clear and updated student records at all times
Complete individual IEP and conference forms for all students
Keep a calendar of events in view for assistants

Responsibilities for Communication with Families:

Communicate electronically, physically and/or in writing with parents about their children’s school lives every week
Contact and meet with parents and/or specialist regarding children with behavior needs
Prepare for and schedule 2 individual in-person conferences with all parents during the year
Schedule and work Admin team for Parent Ed Nights, programs/performances, etc.
Meet individually with prospective parents and students
Follow communication protocols per employee handbook

Responsibilities to the Classroom Assistants:

Train a new assistant to the classroom needs
Establish a harmonious relationship with assistant
Conduct weekly staff meetings
Participate in staff evaluation when needed
Support assistants in every way possible
Report to the Administration team regarding assistant’s progress and concerns
Direct and delegate assistant’s work activities

Responsibilities to the Children and Parents:

Keep information confidential
Communicate openly and positively with children and parents
Be professional and positive in all dealings with children and parents
Share needed information from parents with assistants
Engage and welcome families
Allow the children to be as independent as possible and try not to be an obstacle in their growth
Collaborate and strategize behavioral plans
Incite enthusiasm in children and families
Promote independence and develop life skills
Present individual or group activities to help the children develop physical, emotional, social and cognitive skills
Interact with the children throughout the day with humor, support and respect
Work toward creating a positive environment that is warm and welcoming to children and their families!

Administration of the Classroom:

Guide 20+ children toward appropriate and purposeful work
Plan, prepare, and organize all materials for children, parents and volunteers
Ensure that the building, materials and playground are clean, safe and maintained
Report any maintenance issues to the Administration
Care for all classroom animals and plants
Organize planning time for changing out material, cleaning and reorganizing works
Clean and organize bathrooms
Maintain a healthy and safe environment by following the Mandala Montessori policies and procedures
Responsible for the overall appearance of the classroom
Ensuring that it is always tidy
