We are currently seeking a Lead Montessori Toddler Guide to join us at ToTH Montessori (www.tothmontessori.org), a small, private Montessori program for children ages 18 months to 6 years old in Washington, DC. We operate in the Capitol Hill area of Washington, DC just a few blocks from the Navy Yard / Ballpark Metro Station. For the past three years, ToTH has won the “Best Preschool in the City” annual readers poll award in Washington DC’s City Paper. We are a strong, well managed school with talented leadership.
This is a position for a Montessori Guide who’s looking for an authentic Montessori program. We plan on beginning the accreditation process in the fall of 2019 and are seeking someone who’s ability to add quality, knowledge, and positive energy to our school community is evident. From the beginning you will dive into an experience of seeking excellence in the areas of care of self, care others, predictable environment, peaceful communication, strong record keeping.
Our Head of School and other lead guides are all MACTE trained professionals and our assistants take part in ongoing professional development. You will partner with an established team of passionate educators. ToTH is overseen by a board of experienced and highly involved trustee/owners, a Head of School with 12 years of Montessori classroom teaching experience, an Admissions and Enrollment Director, and an Administrative Director. We experience high retention of students and staff.
Work begins at the start of our new school year on July 29th, 2019 and this is an exempt, full time position. We are in session approximately 196 days per year, not including pre-planning week and four in-service training days. The hours will be approximately 8:15AM to 5:30PM Monday through Friday with a lunch and care of self break each day. This position will report directly to the Head of School.
Candidates should possess the following:
- A Bachelor’s degree
- MACTE endorsed credential from an AMI, IMC or AMS training program
- Relevant teaching experience in a Montessori program
- Graceful and mature communication style with children, co-workers, and parents
- Interest and willingness to engage in ongoing professional development
- A team spirit and helpful approach to school success
- Good communication skills
- Creativity and drive
- Strong references
Ideal candidates would possess the following (preferred, not required)
- 5 years Montessori teaching experience
- 1 year teaching experience at the toddler level
- A bachelor’s degree in early childhood
- A toddler Montessori credential
- Experience with parent education
