Description
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Montessori Pre-Primary Guide to join our growing team at our new Ivy League Kids Montessori School in Chicago Ridge. As a Guide for our 3–6-year-old classroom, you will play a key role in creating a nurturing, authentic Montessori environment that fosters independence, creativity, and a lifelong love of learning. Qualifications
Montessori certification from an AMI, AMS, or MACTE-accredited program (required)
Associate’s or Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field (preferred)
Minimum of 1–2 years experience in a Montessori classroom, preferably as a lead or co-teacher
CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain)
Must meet all state licensing requirements for early childhood teachers in Illinois
US Visa or Residence (preferably)
Responsibilities
Prepare and maintain a beautiful, orderly, and purposeful Montessori environment for children ages 3–6
Observe and guide children using the Montessori method, offering lessons based on individual interests and developmental readiness
Encourage independence, grace and courtesy, and a sense of responsibility in each child
Maintain accurate and timely records of each child’s development and progress
Collaborate with assistant teachers and staff to ensure a consistent and respectful classroom culture
Communicate effectively and regularly with parents regarding their child’s experience and growth
Participate in school events, staff meetings, and ongoing professional development
Ensure classroom materials are cared for, organized, and developmentally appropriate
Uphold health, safety, and licensing standards at all times
Skills
Deep understanding of Montessori philosophy and child development
Strong observation and classroom management skills
Excellent communication skills with both children and adults
Ability to foster a calm, respectful, and joyful classroom atmosphere
Leadership and collaboration in team-based settings
High emotional intelligence, patience, and empathy
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Passion for early childhood education and continuous growth
