Description

Job description: Supports the mission, the Head of School, the instructional staff, parents and above all else, the students of Island Montessori.  The Instructional Coordinator will serve as a liaison between the staff and the Head of School.  The Instructional Coordinator is responsible for effectively implementing and managing instruction and curriculum design, through Montessori albums, materials, and coaching. The Instructional Coordinator, along with the Head of School, plans and implements professional development for the teachers, coordinates school wide assessments, and forges partnerships with community organizations and businesses.

 

Qualifications

Three+ years working in a primary/elementary/middle school environment as a teacher, school support personnel, or school administrator preferred
Master’s Degree, or higher, in Education preferred
Montessori training and knowledge of Montessori pedagogy required
Knowledge of and experience with assessments and relevant technologies, as well as understanding of and experience in using student assessment data in instruction required
Experience in curriculum design and/or educational research required
Administrative experience preferred
Commitment to accountability, including rigorous student testing regime

Responsibilities

Provide oversight and support to ensure every student at IMS is receiving a superior Montessori Education.
Serve as a liaison for communications between the staff and the Head of School
Provide leadership in the ongoing development, improvement, and evaluation of curriculum
Coordinates and participates in level meetings
Implement and manage instruction and curriculum design – including specials classes
Oversees ordering of all academic materials to complete the classroom environment (including science kits)
Serve as a liaison to parents and facilitate parent education and involvement

Coordinate instruction and student data management (with Office Manager) – organizing, reviewing and distributing progress reports
Assist Head of School in providing professional development and coaching for teachers on instructional delivery and methods
Collaborate with UNCW as Site Supervisor for field experience students.
Work with Head of School on community outreach and relationship with Montessori Training programs and networking
Organize school wide educational events
Organize volunteer paperwork and efforts
Schedule and conduct parent tours of the school
Maintain Remote Learning Environments as needed
Create, review, and update IMS Strategic Plan and review with the Head of School and Board of Directors on a monthly basis.
Create and support development of School yearbook
