We are seeking a passionate and inspiring Adolescent Lead Guide to lead our Junior High program and help shape the next generation of independent, thoughtful, and globally-minded learners.
This is a rare opportunity to build a program from the ground up, bringing your vision, creativity, and Montessori expertise to life while guiding students aged 12–15 years in their academic, social, and personal growth.
Located on the outskirts of Ottawa, Kanata Montessori offers a continuum of Montessori programs from Casa through to Grade 12, grounded in the philosophy of Dr. Maria Montessori. What You’ll Do
- Lead a Montessori classroom for adolescents, designing lessons across Humanities/Language Arts, STEM, and Physical Expression/Occupations.
- Embrace each student’s individuality, supporting their self-construction and growth.
- Promote independence, organization, and effective communication in adolescents.
- Integrate real-world experiences and connections to nature, economics, and community into the curriculum.
- Conduct regular assessments to monitor academic progress and identify areas for additional support.
- Partner with families to create meaningful action plans for student success.
- Collaborate with Learning Support staff to provide tailored interventions.
- Plan and participate in enriching extracurricular experiences, including overnight trips and MUN participation.
Who We’re Looking For
- Education & Certification: MACTE-accredited Montessori training at the adolescent level, or a bachelor’s teaching degree with a willingness to pursue certification.
- Experience: Strong background in teaching (Montessori teaching at the Adolescent level is an asset), curriculum development, and adolescent classroom management; experience in academic leadership is an asset.
- Skills & Knowledge: Knowledge of Montessori philosophy and standards, with the ability to design and implement engaging coursework that meets MACTE requirements.
- Personal Qualities: Enthusiasm for guiding adolescents, creativity, flexibility, empathy, and a commitment to fostering a respectful and inclusive learning community.
