Principal for Montessori Magnet School (NC)
The Charlotte-Mecklenburg School District (CMS) is currently seeking a principal for Highland Mill Montessori magnet school. Highland Mill Montessori, one of 37 nationally-recognized magnet schools in CMS, serves a PK-6 population of approximately 320 students with a staff of 40. The school offers fully equipped Montessori classrooms, beautiful classroom gardens, on-site professional development, and an active and supportive parent base. The school is an urban campus located in the North Davidson (NoDa) arts district of Charlotte and enjoys strong partnerships with the surrounding arts and business community.
The school district is searching for a leader who will extend the work of the retiring principal in the implementation of a cohesive, supportive and nurturing school environment dedicated to providing students an outstanding Montessori education. The leader should model Montessori philosophy, be knowledgeable of best instructional practices, and possess excellent communication and management skills to inspire and strengthen the Highland Mill school community of students, teachers, staff and parents. The ideal candidate for this position will have demonstrated success teaching in and/or leading a Montessori school, will be AMS/AMI certified, and will be licensed or be eligible to hold valid North Carolina Principal certification.
